EcoShell Recycling Program

(Focused on LDPE & HDPE Plastics)

Our recycling initiative prioritizes the recovery of Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)—two of the most commonly used plastics worldwide. By teaming up with the Saint Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority, we’re making it easier than ever for local communities, businesses, and individuals to dispose of these materials responsibly.

Collaboration with Saint Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority

We are currently working with the Saint Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority (SLSWMA) to create a network of convenient drop-off and collection points for LDPE and HDPE plastics across the island.

Accepted Materials

LDPE (#4)

Common examples:

  • Plastic shopping bags, bread bags,
  • Six-pack rings,
  • Plastic wrap.

HDPE (#2)

Common examples:

  • Milk jugs, shampoo/conditioner bottles,
  • Detergent containers,
  • Motor oil bottles (must be thoroughly rinsed), and other rigid plastic packaging.

Collection & Drop-Off Points

Public Drop-Off Stations

  • We are in the process of establishing multiple drop-off sites around Saint Lucia in partnership with SLSWMA.
  • These stations will allow you to deposit your clean LDPE and HDPE plastics at no cost.

Main EcoShell Facility:

  • If you cannot access a public drop-off point, you can bring your recyclable plastics directly to our main location.
  • We offer EC$0.15 per pound for clean, acceptable plastic waste when dropped off (if you choose not to donate it for free).

Pickup Services

Free Pickup for Donated Materials

If you’re willing to donate your clean LDPE and HDPE plastics, we’ll arrange a free pickup at your location, especially for bulk quantities.

Bulk Pickup on Request

While we don’t currently have a fixed island-wide pickup schedule, we handle large-volume requests on an as-needed basis. Simply contact us to arrange a time and place.

Preparing Your Plastics

Rinse Thoroughly

Ensure all containers are free of food residue, detergents, or oils to prevent contamination.

Remove Labels & Caps

(where possible): This step helps streamline sorting and recycling.

Sort by Type

If you’re able, separate HDPE (#2) items from LDPE (#4) to ensure faster processing.

Environmental Impact

By focusing on LDPE and HDPE—plastics that are widely produced yet often under-recycled—we’re reducing the volume of waste destined for landfills or incineration. Your participation helps:

Protect Marine Life

Minimizing plastic leakage into our oceans and beaches, a critical concern for island nations.

Conserve Resources

Recycled plastics can be turned into new products, reducing the demand for virgin materials.

Strengthen Local Infrastructure

Partnerships with SLSWMA and community drop-off sites encourage long-term sustainable waste management across Saint Lucia.
